Ketchup Queen Insults Stay-at-Home Moms
I read this yesterday and just couldn't believe my eyes. Maria Teresa Thierstein Simoes-Ferreira Heinz Kerry (deep gasp for breath) is quoted in a USA Today article stating that Laura Bush has never held down a "real job."
The Kerry Camp later released a statement from The Ketchup Queen that she had forgotten about Mrs. Bush's previous professional experience (as a teacher and a librarian):
"I had forgotten that Mrs. Bush had worked as a school teacher and librarian, and there couldn't be a more important job than teaching our children... I appreciate and honor Mrs. Bush's service to the country as First Lady, and am sincerely sorry I had not remembered her important work in the past." - Elitist Teresa Heinz Kerry, after being hit over the head by Kerry Campaign staffersNote, however, that nothing was said about The Ketchup Queen's implication that Mrs. Bush, by staying home with her daughters, had never held a real job. She "appreciate"s Mrs. Bush's "important work in the past," but says nothing about the importance of Mrs. Bush staying at home with her daughters.
This hasn't gone unnoticed, either. One stay-at-home mom, upset about TKQ's comment, wrote a scathing letter which you can read here. I'll second what that mother had to say. Mrs. Bonjo stays at home with our family, and believe me, it's more challenging and more taxing than any "professional" career. It's also far more rewarding; though the returns are not monetary, nor (necessaily) immediately recognized.
John Kerry and Teresa Heinz Kerry continue to prove that they are left wing elitists. In the words of Hugh Hewitt, let's hope they are soon forgotten.
