Dean vs Dusty Harry: Pick Your DNC Position
If someone could ask Howard Dean to stop screaming for just a moment, I'll hurry and finish what I plan to say.
Dean was down in Florida attacking Republicans over their efforts to save Terri Shiavo from death by starvation:
"This is a great tragedy for the American people and I think the behavior of the governor (Jeb Bush) and the president and [Senator Mel Martinez, R-FL] is something that will long be remembered."Would someone on Howard Dean's staff please direct him to the website of Senate Minority Leader Dusty Harry Reid?
This is a press release issued by Dusty Harry's office after the Senate passed legislation allowing Shiavo's parents to return to Federal Court:
"I am pleased Senator Frist and I were able to pass the bill that protects the life of Terri Schiavo by allowing her parents to go to federal court.Perhaps the Democrats should all get on the same page. On one hand, you have the DNC chair tirading against any Republican who thought that perhaps, just maybe, Terri Shiavo shouldn't be starved to death. On the other hand, you have an elected Democrat in one of the highest and most visible positions nationwide saying he is "pleased" to pass a "bipartisan bill" that "protects the life of Terri Shiavo..."
"If the House Republicans refuse to pass our bipartisan bill, they bear responsibility for the consequences."
Reid then heaps responsibility on House Republicans for potentially not passing the bill--while Dean is out there attacking any Republican who did!
Yes, it would seem that the DNC script writers need to spend a weekend together to hash out the details--and I suggest they leave Ted Kennedy's scotch at home.
I now return to my capitalist endeavors.
