French attempt to "out-do" Americans in Church/State Separation
In an attempt to sink to a new low, left wing Frenchies chastised their government for ordering the tri-color French banner (as opposed to the more traditional white flag of surrender) lowered as a show of respect for the passing of Pope John Paul II.
The Pope is a unique figure in that he is the head of the Catholic Church and also the head of the Vatican state. Those are two reasons why he would merit the lowering of the French (and any other country's) banner.
Evidently the French lefties have trouble showing respect for any thing remotely religious, even in death.
Just one more stop on their road to fourth world-dom.
