Republic. I like the sound of the word. It means people can live free, talk free, go or come, buy or sell, be drunk or sober, however they choose. Some words can give you a feeling that makes your heart warm. Republic is one of those words. - John Wayne

Liberty isn't free.

Before you get over run with the challenges, problems, and issues confronting each and every one of us at the beginning of a week, take a moment today to remember the challenges, problems, and issues confronting the men and women of D-day.

You know, suddenly my problems don't seem so insurmountable.

Take a moment today to thank a veteran, and to remember those who never made it home.

Here endeth the lesson.

"Liberty isn't free."

Isn't it true that nothing is free? Why would liberty be any different?
Because liberty, as demonstrated very effectively by the 4,000 stars on the WWII memorial (each representing 100 men), is bought and paid for by the blood of the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines who die defending it. That's why.

Leave it to you take a cheap shot at a memorial.
