9th Circus Court Rides Again
U.S. District Judge Lawrence Karlton, a Jimmy Carter appointee and member of the 9th Circus Court of Appeals in San Francisco today ruled (again) that the Pledge of Allegiance - as currently written - is unconstitutional and ordered the Elk Grove Unified, Rio Linda and Elverta Joint Elementary school districts to (again) cease requiring children to recite the Pledge in order that they might live a life "free from a coercive requirement to affirm God."
And, in case you were wondering, the lawsuit was brought by WOSABA Michael Newdow. Newdow, unable to convince the SOCTUS of his standing to bring the same suit in defense of his estranged daughter, has evidently found three patsy families to act as his surrogates this time around. Seems the Supreme Slap didn't leave a big enough impression on Newdow.
It will take some time for this ruling to work its way up the chain. By then two new Justices will have taken their seats on the SCOTUS - neither of which (hopefully) will hesitate in yet again rebuking Newdow.
This is why it matters who wins elections - and who gets lifetime appointments to the Federal Judiciary.
